It starts with the basics.

Health is an incredibly complex topic. Understanding how the human body truly works is a never-ending task. But by learning the fundamentals, we can start to make a positive difference in the way our health plays out in the long run.

It's important to get an understanding of some of the most basic and overarching principles of how our bodies operate and function in health or disease. Courses on the fundamentals of our health will be hard to find even in the most reputable health-related websites. Once those fundamentals are mastered, learning about specific cardiometabolic diseases will become easier and more logical.

Hi, I'm Dr. Anthony Pothoulakis.

(But you can call me Dr. Anthony!)

As a practicing physician, I see patients daily that are plagued with cardiometabolic diseases: high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, heart attacks and strokes. These conditions cut down on my patients’ quality of life, and more often than not, their quantity of life.

There are ways that we can help minimize the effects of cardiometabolic disease, but the best way to increase your health span is through prevention, especially prevention of organ damage: learn how to protect your brain, heart and kidneys.

Part of my duty as a doctor is to make sure that members of our society are confident in their choices — and I’m honored to do this by educating individuals, patients and caregivers to take control of their health so they can feel confident in their medical decisions.
